Operations Supervisor

Location: Pleasanton, CA
Reports to: Director of West Coast Operations

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Payroll, Implementation and Distribution Specialists in the local branch. The Operations Supervisor will also be included in hiring, reviewing, and training the Payroll, Implementation and Distribution Specialists, as well as reviewing department procedures and workload management.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assists with interviews and selecting candidates to be hired in the department
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll and manages the payroll specialists’ client base
• Trains and supervises employees, including day-to-day supervision, assigning workloads, arranging work schedules to ensure adequate coverage is maintained in office, monitoring staff performance levels and conducting performance evaluations in conjunction with the Director of West Coast Operations
• Resolves complex client service issues and concerns as escalated from staff members
• Assigns tasks to ensure timely and accurate packing, processing and delivery of payroll
• Suggests methods to improve processes and increase efficiency
• Provides support to all Ovation departments regarding payroll issues
• Other tasks as assigned or requested

Qualifications/Skills:
• Excellent interpersonal and team building skills required
• Ability to work under time constraints and meet schedules
• Ability to multi task – interacting with outside agencies, clients and staff members simultaneously
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and make decisions affecting staff as well as clients
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Proficient in Windows PC environment with accurate data entry/keyboarding skills
• Working knowledge of payroll, wage and tax laws and regulations required

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Supervisory experience in a customer service arena helpful
• Service bureau or multi-state tax experience preferred. Payroll industry experience with working knowledge of payroll, wage and tax laws is a plus
• -Or- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
